CONSULTANCY SERVICES TO HOSPITALS

(Extensive consultancy services have been provided to various systems in USA, UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Bhutan, Nepal, and in India. This note provides information about consultancy services to hospitals. In the last 35 years, I have worked with over 3000 hospitals: planning new hospitals, assessment of systems, manpower planning; manpower assessment; designing new systems, statement of objectives, organizational structure; modern technology requirements; computerization and information systems; marketing of the hospital services; patient opinion surveys; and financial viability); assessment and evaluation of the hospitals for strengthening health services..

1. 1966-69 - University Hospitals, Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA. Job Evaluation and Salary Administration Surveys. Personnel Assessment, Manpower Planning, and Job Design Systems.

2. 1969-70 - Barberton Citizens Hospital, Barberton, Ohio, USA. Attitude, Motivational Orientation, and Occupational adjustment surveys of administrative and professional personnel; recommended programmes for training and organizational development.

3. 1970-73 - Lutheran Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Organizational analysis and organizational development programmes; executive development programmes; executive assessment surveys; job analysis survey of the key personnel (45); attitude, motivational orientations, occupational adjustment, and organizational climate surveys of administrative, in-house medical staff, nursing and general supervisors, professional nursing staff, nursing office clerical staff, general office clerical staff, nursing assistance staff, house keeping and laundry departments staff, dietary department staff, maintenance department staff, and medical associates.

25. 1996-97 - Project to Strengthen the Teaching Institutions, District Hospitals, First Referall Hospitals (over 100), Kerala State Government. 26. 1996-97 - Planning a 500-bedded superspeciality hospital for Mizoram State. Need survey, evaluation of present hospital resources, specialties required, financing, referall services, manpower requirements, training and development of manpower, computerization, charges, financial viability.

27. 1997 - Indian Oil Corporation (Assam Oil) Digboi Assam. Strengthening the Systems, Manpower Requirements, Training of Medical and Nursing Personnel for Quality Assurance and Patient Satisfaction.
